Group Support Options

ALARA provides a number of options for people with a disability who wish to share common interests or maximize their support through shared or group service options.

Group options include:

Luke’s Place Service Hubs

Luke's PlaceALARA provides centre based day services and community participation services in the Ipswich, Esk and Lockyer areas through our network Luke’s Place Service Hubs.

Dependant on the location, services are funded either through Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services - Disability Services or the Community Care program. A small number of places are also funded by the Federal Department of Health under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

People with individual funding (such as a Support for School Leaver package) or self-directed funding can also use their funding to access the programs on offer.

Each Luke’s Place provides access to a diverse range of activities dependant on the interests and preferences of individuals and the group.

Programs streams include general life skills development, computer use for recreation or further education, gardening, visual and performance arts, meal planning and cooking, personal training for physical fitness and a range of activities with a recreation and leisure focus. Support is also offered to investigate and access local facilities and to make a meaningful contribution to the community through a range of volunteering initiatives or collaborative opportunities with other local community groups.

The number and variety of activities provided through each Luke’s Place will depend on the funding, location, and the staff and volunteer resources available.

Transport is provided to and from the centres using wheelchair accessible mini buses within a set radius. Specific fees and eligibility criteria apply to each.

AspirationsAspirations

Aspirations is an Ipswich based group program that assists individuals to try new things and explore their interests. Activities vary from month to month and are as diverse as the ideas of the people who participate in the program. Past activities have included fishing, Sailability, ceramics, factory outlet shopping and specialty cooking classes to name just a few. Aspirations can be accessed as an alternative to traditional centre based support or if you want to use your individualised funding to try something new and meet new people who share your interests. Costs vary according to the activity.
