ALARA provides services designed to support families in their caring role and a comprehensive range of age-appropriate supports to assist your child to develop social and practical skills and increase their independence.


Support for Families

Support for Families

All families are different, so their requirement for support and assistance varies. ALARA will co-design at home support arrangements with you that best suits the needs of your family. This can include regular or flexible in-home respite, assistance with personal care or general domestic support. Our staff are experienced in working with children with complex needs.

Social and Community Activities

ALARA can assist your child on an individual basis to enjoy social and community activities experienced by young people of the same age. Every child will have different interests and aspirations so the support arrangements will be unique to your child. ALARA is currently supporting children and teenagers to attend their local martial arts, dancing, swimming and arts class and a range of sporting groups. Your child may be interest in support to learn to cook or catch public transport, increasing their general fitness, learning fish... the possibilites are limitless.

Out and About Group

This group was established in 2021 to meet the needs of participants in their first few years after school. It is based at the Raceview Congregational Church Hall. The focus is on developing independence and life skills. The group meets three days a week and participates in a diverse range of goal orientated activities including cooking, shopping and fitness activities, volunteering at Meals on Wheels and accessing public transport in the community.

  

 


Vacation Support

Vacation Support

ALARA operates group activities on selected days over each school holiday period in the Ipswich area with services also available in Lockyer and Somerset on request. The program provides a great range of activities including excursions, stimulating skill-building activities and loads of fun. To join the mailing list, contact your local ALARA Centre or Intake on 07 3817 0600.
